Following are events scheduled throughout the region in commemoration of Veterans Day:

AUGUSTA - Togus VA Medical Center will conduct a Veterans Day observance at 8 a.m. Nov. 11 at the flagpole in front of the main hospital. Veterans and the general public are cordially invited to attend the ceremony.

BANGOR - Veterans Day program, 1 p.m. Nov. 11, Cole Land Transportation Museum, 405 Perry Road, Bangor. School students reading award-winning essays, "What Freedom Means to Me After Interviewing a Veteran." Patriotic concert by Bangor Band. Free.

BANGOR - Maine Veterans of World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War and war on global terrorism who do not have their walking sticks may receive them 9 ...
