Philip Dempsey, Tim Fair, Brandon Hughes and Joel Kenney, eighth-
grade students at St. Philip Neri School, got hands-on engineering
experience when they were chosen to attend the Maryland Quality
Initiative Civil Engineering Expo Oct. 29 at Michael's Eighth Avenue
in Glen Burnie.
The expo is held each year and is sponsored by the Maryland State
Highway Administration and several local engineering firms based
here in Maryland. Schools throughout the county are invited each
year to send students who excel in math and science. The event is
designed to give students an overview about the different careers
involved with civil engineering and how it affects the lives of
millions of people each ...
