Article: Family fights breast cancer Mother, daughter urge others to keep positive attitude

WOOSTER -- One thing no mother and daughter want to have in common is breast cancer.

But Corky Snyder of Wooster and her daughter, Rebecca (whose family and friends know her as Becky or Becca) Snyder Martello, found a way to cope with the disease and even to maintain a positive perspective, which they say is a healthy attitude.

Each is also gratified great strides have been made in treating breast cancer since Snyder was diagnosed with it in 1967.

"I was diagnosed in June of 2006 with Stage 4 breast cancer," Martello said, meaning it had already spread to other areas. She was 39, just as her mother had been when she learned she had the disease.
