Article: Funds for riverfront sidewalks approved

The Charleston Urban Renewal Authority gave its approval to more than $440,000 in funding requests from three local agencies Thursday.

More than half went to the city of Charleston to provide crosswalks on Summers, Laidley and Court streets. The improvements are part of the Boulevard Streetscape project, which will bring several improvements to Haddad Riverfront Park, said City Manager David Molgaard.

Last year, the authority set aside about $500,000 for the boulevard project.
