Hill's divided loyalties Former England winger Gordon Hill became
a star at Old Trafford but learned his trade at The Den. He is flying
back from America for the final but doesn't know who to support, as
he told Michael Hart GORDON HILL retains fond memories of the old
Den.
Hemmed in by narrow lanes and railway arches, tower blocks
looming, this was where he learned his trade in the Seventies. There
were few refinements down Cold Blow Lane in those far-off days but
the chirpy, selfconfident teenager learned quickly.
He'd been playing as an amateur for Southall, but after just three
seasons at Millwall was suddenly elevated to the very peak of the
