Article: Weekly limit on oily fish in health alert

OILY fish is good for you - as long as you don't eat too much, consumers were warned today.

Government experts have for the first time published guidelines detailing just how much oily fish is safe to eat.

The Food Standards Agency said eating oily fish is important and stressed that most Britons do not eat enough to get the maximum health benefits.

But the FSA also warned that women of childbearing age and girls should not eat more than two portions a week because of toxic chemicals linked to illhealth, including some cancers. Men, boys and other women should eat no more than four portions a week.
