Soy milk keeps popping up in unexpected places.
On the TV show "Will & Grace," the nondairy beverage made a cameo
appearance in the main characters' refrigerator. In some supermarkets
in Florida and Georgia, Tropicana smoothies containing soy milk are
making their way into the refrigerated aisles. At some Pizza Hut
restaurants in the Fort Wayne, Ind., area, the pizzas feature soy
milk cheese.
It's all part of a blitz by the soy milk industry to move a
product long confined to a niche market into the mainstream.
Three decades after soy milk debuted in the United States, some of
its largest distributors are easing into the kind of savvy
advertising, television product placement and coupon ...
