As celebrations go, last night's party marking the 30th anniversary of the Supreme Court's decision in Roe v. Wade was decidedly bittersweet. The star-studded event, hosted by NARAL Pro- Choice America, was filled with defiant speeches about women's freedoms -- and with dire predictions about the future of abortion rights in the United States.

"If Roe is overturned, women will return to -- and die in -- the back alleys of this nation," warned Kate Michelman, president of the abortion rights group.
