The children at Kilby Elementary School in Woodbridge know Fred
Lynn Middle School. They play on the bigger school's fields, their
older brothers and sisters roam Fred Lynn's halls, and in September,
all the Kilby fifth-graders will enroll at Fred Lynn.
But the teachers at the two Prince William County schools, so
close geographically, have had little reason to get to know each
other -- until now.
The two principals have formed a partnership, figuring that
familiarity among the teachers at the schools will make for an easier
transition for the fifth-graders when they graduate as the "big kids"
at Kilby to become the "little kids" at Fred Lynn -- in a brand-new
world of lockers, schedules ...
