Four bombs exploded in the Moroccan coastal city of Casablanca
late Friday, killing at least 24 people and injuring about 60 others,
according to news services. The blasts damaged a Jewish community
center, a Spanish restaurant, the Belgian consulate and a hotel,
officials said. No U.S. sites appeared to have been targeted.
The simultaneous explosions, caused by three car bombs and a
suicide bomber wearing an explosives belt, came after warnings by
U.S. counterterrorism officials earlier on Friday that an al Qaeda
attack might be imminent, citing Africa as a possible location. They
also came only days after a bombing blamed on al Qaeda killed 34
people in Saudi Arabia.
