Article: House OKs USC name change/ School may offer more programs

DENVER - The University of Southern Colorado is one step closer to becoming Colorado State University-Pueblo.

The House Education Committee voted unanimously Monday for USC's name change.

House Bill 1324's sponsor, Rep. Joyce Lawrence, R-Pueblo, said the name change could make the Pueblo university more attractive, especially to Colorado students, and provide the area with more public higher education programs.

"It's just one more step that will make us stronger," Lawrence said.
