Ping! ... As Tony Gwynn sees it, the steady ping, ping, pinging of aluminum on horsehide may be the biggest change in his life.

"No, I really don't miss playing," he said, watching the San Diego State Aztecs taking batting practice before Friday's game against Air Force at Falcon Field. "I'm happy in what I'm doing, and this what I want to be doing. I don't miss it as much as much I thought I would, and I'm still around baseball."
