Article: Sky Sox raided by Rockies/ Call-ups by parent club leave Colorado Springs out to dry

Randy Flores learned late Saturday night that he would not be making his scheduled pitching start for the Colorado Springs Sky Sox on Sunday against Fresno.

The reason: He had been promoted to the Colorado Rockies, along with three of his Sky Sox teammates.

As a result, Colorado Springs manager Chris Cron tried to find a suitable replacement for Flores, who was 2-2 with the Sky Sox in seven games. Cron's choice, however, was less than adequate.

Shane Heams, making his first start for the Sky Sox, and first of his seven-year career, allowed five runs and seven hits in two innings as Colorado Springs fell to Fresno, 10-3, in front of 3,363 at Sky Sox Stadium.
