Randy Flores learned late Saturday night that he would not be
making his scheduled pitching start for the Colorado Springs Sky Sox
on Sunday against Fresno.
The reason: He had been promoted to the Colorado Rockies, along
with three of his Sky Sox teammates.
As a result, Colorado Springs manager Chris Cron tried to find a
suitable replacement for Flores, who was 2-2 with the Sky Sox in
seven games. Cron's choice, however, was less than adequate.
Shane Heams, making his first start for the Sky Sox, and first of
his seven-year career, allowed five runs and seven hits in two
innings as Colorado Springs fell to Fresno, 10-3, in front of 3,363
at Sky Sox Stadium.
