Spike Lee lives in a world in which there is room for only one
"Spike."
Himself.
The filmmaker has, therefore, sued Viacom over its plans to rename
its TNN cable channel Spike TV. In papers filed in the Supreme Court
of the State of New York in Manhattan this week, Lee -- whose real
name is Shelton Jackson Lee -- asked for an injunction against
Viacom's use of the name "Spike," saying he never consented to the
media conglomerate's use of the name.
"The media description of this change of name, as well as comments
made to me and my wife, confirmed what was obvious -- that Spike TV
referred to Spike Lee," the filmmaker said in his lawsuit.
