Albertsons has joined the club - the discount card club, that is.
After watching King Soopers and Safeway offer discount cards in
recent years, and countering that no cards were needed at its stores,
Boise, Idaho-based Albertsons launched its own discount program this
week in Colorado, Wyoming and South Dakota.
As with Safeway's Club Card and King Soopers' Soopers Card,
Albertsons' Preferred Savings Card rewards customers who use it with
lower prices on dozens of items.
A week ago, customers got similar discounts but didn't need the
card. Albertsons thinks it can offer significant values to customers
through the card, spokeswoman Karianne Cole said.
