Terry Madden sat in his office a month ago talking about the virtues of the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency, for which he is the chief executive officer.

Madden's voice and demeanor bled with the Teddy Roosevelt principle of speaking softly but carrying a big stick. Madden's vernacular was that of a poised, self-assured man who's in control. Each word he used packed the power of the USADA. That's power to drug test and penalize U.S. Olympic, Pan American Games and Paralympic athletes.
