DENVER - Overweight Coloradans with a hankerin' for supersized
fries shouldn't be allowed to chase supersized jury verdicts, some
state lawmakers say.
At least two bills have been introduced in the General Assembly
that would stop people who claim to have packed on the pounds by
eating too much fast food from suing restaurants for making them fat
and unhealthy.
"Obesity is a personal responsibility issue," said Rep. Mark
Hillman, R-Burlington, sponsor of Senate Bill 20, which is scheduled
for a hearing today.
"The biggest causes of obesity are excessive eating and inadequate
exercise," he said. "Those are both personal responsibilities; they
