Article: Proposal to extend road upsets Black Forest Planned addition would cut into woods, critics charge

Building or expanding roads always has the potential to ruffle feathers.

To handle the predicted increase in population, El Paso County officials have developed a Major Corridors Transportation Plan, calling for 15 road improvements in Falcon, Security/Widefield and Black Forest.

Predictably, the plan has stirred up concern, nowhere more so than in Black Forest, where neighbors are upset about one possibility: extending Milam Road through the heart of the ponderosa pine country.

County officials will present the plan for public comment Thursday at the Black Forest Community Center.
