Look at Rich Lehrer's wavy turquoise fence, and you might imagine
yourself riding a pinto pony bareback through blowing prairie grass.
But Lehrer looks at it and sees a red 1964 El Dorado Cadillac
convertible. He traded it to well-known Colorado sculptor Troy
Pillow, who, in turn, created the iron fence on Old Broadmoor Road
for him.
Lehrer, a builder, wanted something special to surround his ranch
home, and the handoff of his prized car was a small price to pay. An
art collector, he was familiar with the sculptor's work and sought
him out for his dream fence.
"It's sort of iron xeriscape," Lehrer says of the curving iron
that seems to undulate. "I like it a lot."
