Article: Mitchell drops Planned Parenthood talk Principal doesn't want students in middle of politics

Mitchell High School has canceled Planned Parenthood's presentations to health classes to shield students from protests staged at other Colorado Springs District 11 schools.

Mitchell administrators this week denied giving in to pressure from opponents, led by anti-abortion groups and D-11 board member Eric Christen, who sought to have Planned Parenthood barred.

Nevertheless, opponents applauded the decision.

In an e-mail to supporters, Christen wrote, "All of these efforts appear to have now paid off as we have learned that Planned Parenthood is now unwelcome in all of our high schools due to the 'controversy' they have generated."
