DENVER - Clint Barmes ended his hitting slump by tying a Colorado
record.
Barmes, just 6-for-51 (.118) in his previous 13 games, was 3-for-
5 in Wednesday's 8-6 loss to St. Louis with two runs scored and two
RBIs. He doubled three times by the fourth inning, becoming the 25th
Rockie to have three doubles in a game.
Before the game, Barmes was hitting .318, the 10th-best average in
the National League. The 26-year-old shortstop said he remains
confident, while admitting he's suffering some growing pains.
"Probably my biggest adjustment is being patient," Barmes said.
"When I was in a groove, I expanded my strike zone and now that I'm
not hitting, I'm getting myself out on bad pitches, so ...
