Article: Scorpions snag title in snow Olsens six RBIs help Sand Creek earn first 4A Metro baseball crown

As a light snow fell, Sand Creek's John Olsen hit a home run in the fifth inning and the Scorpions scored nine in the top of the seventh to beat Cheyenne Mountain 11-6 and claim their first Class 4A Metro League baseball title.

"As a team we are all very excited," Sand Creek coach Steve Rowley said Friday at Cheyenne Mountain. "I'm proud of the team and it's really nice to give our school this first title."

The Pikes Peak No. 2 Scorpions (12-5, 11-3) will take the top seed from the Class 4A Metro League into next week's district playoffs. Cheyenne Mountain (No. 1, 14-4, 11-3), No. 5 Widefield, No. 6 Liberty and No. 9 Woodland Park also earned playoff berths.
