A proposal to build a controversial wedding center in Black Forest
is back, but residents who opposed it the first time say they'll
protest again.
The Black Forest Land Use Committee's objections will be much the
same as in March, when the El Paso County Board of Commissioners
rejected Millie Carlton's proposal for a special events center.
A hearing date before the county Planning Commission has not been
set.
Since March, Carlton has redesigned the Thee Occasion building.
Instead of a white, tentlike structure, plans now show a building
with a stucco, stone and timber exterior.
It's a step in the right direction, but it's not enough, said
Terry Stokka, chairman of the Black Forest group.
