Article: Black Forest will celebrate rural lifestyle

The densely treed, five-acre lots on which most Black Forest residents live suggest purposeful isolation. But residents disprove that impression annually during the Black Forest Festival.

Like most Colorado communities, few of the area's 10,000 residents are natives. Those who move there are fiercely protective of their rural lifestyle. County planners and commissioners repeatedly cite Black Forest as an example of a community that makes its voice heard, loud enough to sway landuse decisions.

The festival, marking its 46th year, celebrates those qualities.
