Article: Dayne: A Giant letdown Back would rather forget his 1st stay

ENGLEWOOD - Ron Dayne's moment of glory with the Denver Broncos seems like ancient history.

Sept. 18 against San Diego, with the Broncos in danger of falling to 0-2, Dayne ran six times for 38 yards on Denver's final drive. His 10-yard run on fourth-and-1 set up the game-winning field goal. He has barely been heard from since.

In Denver's past four games Dayne has five carries for 9 yards. He hasn't played one down at tailback the past two weeks. Mike Anderson has established himself as the starter and Tatum Bell is an effective backup.

Dayne's only playing time has been on the punt team.

"They've been playing good so I can't really fault them for that," Dayne said.
