BLACK FOREST - Construction starts next week on the Black Forest
wedding center that was a catalyst for an incorporation effort.
Owner Millie Carlton anticipates an Oct. 1 opening of Thee
Occasion, a wedding and special events center at Shoup and Black
Forest roads. It won't be soon enough for hundreds of brides.
Carlton said she got almost 300 inquiries about Thee Occasion in
January.
"The first wedding is scheduled for Dec. 8," she said. "We will be
consistently booked."
Dozens of Black Forest residents fought the proposal last year,
saying Carlton's building was out of step with an area plan designed
to guide the county in making decisions affecting the community. The
