Allergies are among the top reasons pet owners relinquish their
dog or cat to an animal shelter.
"Your Allergies and Your Pet," a new brochure from the Humane
Society of the United States, is aimed at helping allergy sufferers
alleviate their symptoms while sparing them the heartbreak of losing
their pet.
People who are severely sensitive to animal dander may have no
choice but to give up their animal. But those with more moderate
allergies can learn to live comfortably and safely with their pets.
Here are some tips offered by the brochure:
Discuss symptom-relieving medicines and household changes with
your allergist.
