Ashley Owens didn't enjoy running for a college scholarship.

In the two years since she departed Liberty as the nation's top high school sprinter, she has zoomed in -- and out -- of LSU and UNLV.

Now, she's running for cash. In April, she signed to run for adidas.

Her five-year contract, she said, will pay $80,000 annually along with $12,000 per year for college expenses.

Spencer Nell, global marketing manager for adidas, confirmed Owens signed a "multi-year" contract that includes "academic support."

"We believe there is no limit to what she can achieve if she sets her mind to it," Nell said in an e-mail.
