DENVER - Maybe, finally, Colorado's Clint Barmes has found solid footing in a season of quicksand.

On Friday night, in an 8-6 loss to the Texas Rangers at Coors Field, Barmes went 3-for-4 with a sacrifice bunt and a pair of doubles. It ended a stretch of 54 games during which Barmes never had more than two hits, and -- maybe, finally -- was the spark he needs to break out of the type of slump that typically results in a trip to the minors. And sometimes results in a trip with no return.
