Most Death Cab for Cutie fans remember the band's appearance on Fox's once-trendy show "The OC," back in 2005.

Death Cab certainly benefited from the brief plug. The group's release at the time, "Transatlanticism," peaked at No. 8 on Billboard's Top Independent Albums, and Death Cab soon signed to Atlantic Records.

Ironically, Death Cab almost opted against appearing on the show.

"They asked us if we wanted to be on the program, but we were busy touring and didn't have a ton of interest in it," Death Cab drummer Jason McGerr says.
