Article: Do anger-management classes do what supporters promise? Do anger- management classes really work?

In April, Minh Phu Le completed court-ordered anger-management classes after he was arrested for slashing a couch with scissors and then pushing a woman down, scratching her face.

While on probation, he was arrested again last month for allegedly choking the mother of his 2-year-old daughter, Skyla.

Now the San Jose man stands accused of a third crime -- fatally poisoning Skyla last week in an act of revenge against her mother.

In many ways, Le represents the paradox of court-mandated anger counseling.

Do the classes actually reduce anger? Or are the programs viewed by defendants as merely a way to avoid time behind bars?
