Howard County's unemployment rate rose slightly to 2.8 percent in
May, from 2.7 percent in April, the Maryland Department of Labor,
Licensing and Regulation reported this month. The rate was 3 percent
in May 2002.
The overall jobless rate for Maryland increased to 4.2 percent in
May, from 4.1 percent in April. The national rate remained at 5.8
percent.
Fountainhead Title Group, a Maryland property title company,
opened its new corporate headquarters this month in Columbia. The
headquarters, at 10025 Governor Warfield Pkwy., is more than 23,000
square feet and will accommodate more than 100 employees.
The headquarters will serve Fountainhead's more than 30 regional
locations.
