Hell hath no fury like a developer scorned.
Related Cos., a big-league New York developer, was cut from the
list of finalists to develop the site of the old Washington
Convention Center in early July. The firm fired back Friday with a
protest to a top city development official, arguing that the
selection process unfairly excluded Related from the finalists.
"The District's decision to exclude Related from further
competition was arbitrary, capricious and improper," said the letter,
addressed to Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development Eric
W. Price. The District, it continued, "has circumvented even the most
basic aspects of full and open competition."
