Steve Wynn's 2001 album "Here Come the Miracles" was the best of
his career, even better than "The Days of Wine and Roses," which he
made in 1982 with the Dream Syndicate. On "Here Come the Miracles,"
Wynn stripped his rock-noir narratives and noisy garage riffs of
their arena-rock affectations to reveal the starkest songs he had
ever recorded. His quartet then hit the road for a year and a half,
focusing the material even further thanks in large part to the
irresistible rhythm section of bassist Dave DeCastro and drummer
Linda Pitmon.
For his new album "Static Transmission," Wynn returned to the same
Tucson studio with the same producer, Chris Schumacher, and the same
