At the start of the solo Carla Perlo performed Saturday night at Dance Place, she told the audience, "Everyone left, and I was left here . . . by myself." It takes a grand leap of the imagination to picture Perlo alone, however. The reality is that in the more than two decades since she founded Dance Place, she has surrounded herself with the best dancers, choreographers and dance teachers in the area, creating a near-constant buzz of activity at the black-box theater and studio in Northeast Washington.
