The fact that five high school football players from Prince
George's County will play for the same college is not surprising.
What is surprising is that it will happen more than five hours away,
at Kent State in Ohio.
A concerted recruiting effort was made by the coaching staff at
Kent State to tap into the considerable talent pool in Prince
George's County. The presentation of what Kent State could offer
appealed to players, parents and coaches. Word about the Golden
Flashes spread quickly through the county, and soon peers were
talking about a school many said they had never heard of before Kent
State made contact.
