D.C. United hasn't had much success on the field the past two
seasons, but one area the club has performed well is in the Major
League Soccer draft.
Two years ago, United picked up teenage midfielder Bobby Convey,
one of the nation's top young players, with the 12th overall pick.
Last year, D.C.'s draft-day collection of Mark Lisi, Ryan Nelsen,
Santino Quaranta, Bryan Namoff and Craig Ziadie went on to combine
for 75 starts, 9 goals and 18 assists in helping United rebuild its
foundation following several offseason trades.
Today's MLS draft probably won't be as bountiful as in past years,
but it could help the club fill several spots. United will have two
