I find most department stores to be overwhelming. On the rare occasion when I walk into one looking for clothes for myself, I never know where to start and worry that I'll spend the precious hour I have looking in the wrong place and finding nothing useful.

Consider what's involved in searching for a pair of black pants. It's probable that before long I would find a section with nice trousers. But walking around further I'd find black pants hanging in all kinds of mini-departments dedicated to specific designers -- two here, three there -- before reaching a whole new section of moderately priced clothes with a number of pairs just as nice as the more expensive ones I hit upon first. ...
