With a victory today against the last-place team in the Eastern
Conference, the Washington Mystics (14-6) can set a franchise record
for wins in a season and move closer to their first winning season in
team history.
The Mystics are more concerned about putting themselves in
position to win the Eastern Conference title, which would send them
to the playoffs for the second time. Their opponent for the 11:30
a.m. game at MCI Center is the Detroit Shock (3-16).
"Our goal before the season started was to have a winning season,"
said forward Murriel Page, who is the only remaining Mystic to have
been through all four losing seasons. "But our number one goal has
