For Shirley Latham, the hardest parts of her job are the funerals
of children and the victims of violent crime.
"You try to help the family as much as possible," said Latham,
who calls on her faith to help cope. "It's very draining to have to
deal with a child's funeral."
Latham has been a funeral director for 30 years in the Greater
Grand Crossing neighborhood.
Being a funeral director is a 24/7 business, Latham explained,
and each funeral involves many steps.
