"Get out and I'll take your picture," I say as we pull up to the
Stone Pony, the squat rock club made famous by Bruce Springsteen.
"Someday this might not be here and you'll be glad to have a
souvenir."
My out-of-state friends learn that visiting me on the Jersey shore
means at least one drive-by tour of the crumbling resort of Asbury
Park -- seen on "The Sopranos," depicted in films like "Eddie and the
Cruisers" and, of course, lyricized by the Boss. Not to mention some
of my favorite coming-of-age memories.
We continue to drive what's left of the Circuit. One block wide
and 10 blocks long, Ocean Avenue was -- back in the day -- the
dividing line between the family-friendly boardwalk and ...
