The terms "organically grown" and "cloned animal" aren't
necessarily incompatible, scientists and industry experts said, but
that doesn't mean consumers will agree.
"You're talking about a philosophical and ethical divide that the
American consumer will have to deal with," said Scott Norman,
marketing director for Tulsa-based Akin's Natural Foods Market Inc.
"There's going to be a certain kind of consumer who won't mind and
won't care and probably won't even notice. But there are a lot of
people in America who will not buy a cloned product - probably with
good reason. It's going to be a difficult task to navigate those
waters."
