Article: USDA to decide if cloned animals are organic

The terms "organically grown" and "cloned animal" aren't necessarily incompatible, scientists and industry experts said, but that doesn't mean consumers will agree.

"You're talking about a philosophical and ethical divide that the American consumer will have to deal with," said Scott Norman, marketing director for Tulsa-based Akin's Natural Foods Market Inc. "There's going to be a certain kind of consumer who won't mind and won't care and probably won't even notice. But there are a lot of people in America who will not buy a cloned product - probably with good reason. It's going to be a difficult task to navigate those waters."
