Article: Bunni Sovetski, 75, sculptor and Spanish war vet

Memorial services for Bunni Sovetski, 75, a colorful carpenter-sculptor who fought in the Spanish Civil War, will be from 7 to 10 p.m. Jan. 21 in the Old Town Triangle Association, 1755 N. North Park.

Mr. Sovetski, who died Dec. 27 in Illinois Masonic Hospital, spent many years renovating homes in the Old Town area before it was considered chic. He had his studio there. He had exhibited at the Old Town association's art fair every summer since its inception in 1949.

He was a hobo, writer, puppeteer and puppetmaker who once had carved some characters for the late Burr Tilstrom.
