Article: Music videos turn movies into giant ads

A funny thing has been happening to me lately while I've been playing with the remote-control zapper on my TV set. I'll be channel-hopping, and I'll find a familiar scene from a movie. So I'll stay on that channel for a moment, only to see the movie disappear and Madonna turn up, followed by Tina Turner and Huey Lewis. I'm not watching a movie. I'm watching music videos.

What's even stranger is when I am actually watching a movie, and I get the feeling that the movie itself has changed into MTV. Since this happens when I'm in a movie theater and not anywhere near a TV set, it's unsettling.
