Article: Filipino reporter cites threats

The Chicago bureau chief of a Philippine-American newspaper was saddened but not surprised by Wednesday's killing of a colleague in California.

Vic Esclamado, of the weekly Philippine News, said that over the last several years, "I and this paper occasionally, and sometimes frequently, have received death threats and other threats."

He accused Philippine President Ferdinand E. Marcos, saying that his agents in this country have conducted a campaign of harassment and terror against those who oppose him.
