People sometimes think we make up letters we get. We don't have
to. Some of the situations we get into are, well, different. Here's
a sample.
Can you help us find a check? We wrote one payable to my daughter's
school. But we learned the bank, Independence Bank of Chicago,
placed a stop payment on it five days before we even wrote it!
How could someone do this? Mental telepathy? What? I've been
to Independence, but no one has any answers. We don't even know what
happened to the money. MRS. G.
A. If you hear us humming the theme song from the "Twilight
Zone," it's because that's where we must be. Bank officials insist
they received a cancellation call.
