Eleven independent political organizations announced a
consensus slate yesterday of six Democratic candidates for countywide
office.
"Three weeks ago none of us knew that we had arrived at a common
slate," said Bernard LaCour, vice-president of the Progressive
Chicago Area Network.
But LaCour said leaders of the 11 groups decided to hold a
press conference to show their backing of the informal slate and
pledged to work on behalf of the candidates in Tuesday's primary.
The slate includes: Jeanne Quinn, a candidate for county clerk,
and five challengers for the County Board: attorney Charles
