You know you're in west suburban Carol Stream by what you don't see
as much by what you do see.
This is what you won't find in the village, about 35 miles west
of Chicago:
The proverbial wrong side of the tracks.
Golden arches or glitzy signs of competing fast-food signs,
supermarkets, movie theaters or even a neighborhood bar.
Traffic jams or unsightly litter.
Here's what you do find in Carol Stream:
Wide arterials, with stoplights and left-hand turn lanes in place
for housing developments, some under construction and some still
piles of dirt in fields.
Handsome new schools and a new library and at least two churches
under construction. When or where did you last see a church ...
