Lake Michigan, at record high levels for this century, is
expected to get higher and just might stay that way for a century or
more, according to researchers.
Lakes Michigan and Huron are already 3 feet above their average
and may get another foot higher by this summer, according to Frank
Quinn, head of the Lakes Hydrology Group at the Great Lakes
Environmental Research Lab at Ann Arbor, Mich.
That bodes ill for shoreline property owners because high lake
levels mean beach and shore erosion and flooded streets.
The problems are greater in Indiana and Michigan, where waves
