Jerry Paris, 60, an actor, writer, producer and director who won an
Emmy for television's "The Dick Van Dyke Show," died Monday of a
brain tumor in Los Angeles. Mr. Paris appeared as Dick Van Dyke's
neighbor Jerry, a dentist, and wrote for and co-produced the CBS
series, which ran from 1961-1966. He won a 1964 Emmy as best comedy
series director and later was director and producer for television's
"Happy Days." He directed the movies "Never a Dull Moment" and "Viva
Max!" and the second and third movies in the "Police Academy" comedy
series. Mr. Paris acted in the films "The Wild One," "The Caine
Mutiny," "Marty" and "The Naked and the Dead."
